OREGON/WASHINGTON SPRING RACING SEASON SO FAR.

Hi all I wanted to put out a post to all of the racers that have contacted me from around the country thinking of coming to some of our races this year.  You would be very welcome.  We use all of the rules in the handbook and have not added any others like some areas but we do count our laps with a lap counting system so you will need to rent a transponder from the race officials at the day of the race which includes a mount that can be zip tied onto an axle or ??? to keep it very secure.

Our race season so far looks like this but is not firmly set yet so keep watching the EA website Calendar as it will be updated once all of the dates are firm--All of our races except PIR are on parking lots with lengths of 1.3 miles to 0.4 miles.  Some have large elevation changes and most have one to 6 tight corners so handling is essential to be successful.  Any questions please contact me or the race host listed on the web site.  We will have from 30 to 60 cars come to a race so we often have a second heat but still have 25 - 35 cars on the track at a time.  More cars if it is fairly long and wide to allow passing and spread out the cars.  At PIR there will be about 50-60 going at one time on the long and short track.  We have student and open class all with standard batteries normally and they are usually on the track together but don't compete against each other.

March 14th--Mount Hood Community College--Gresham, OR--Long (~1.2 mile) parking lot race with a very rough track, some tight corners, and a 30' elevation change

April 4th--Hood River--downtown streets at Hood River , OR--about 0.7 of a mile with a 40' elevation change and a very tight corner at the bottom of a steep corner.

April 18th--Lane Community College--Eugene, OR--about 0.5 mile course with a 35' elevation change and several tight corners

April 25th--Columbia Community College--Pasco, WA--about a 0.4 mile level course that is fairly level and a couple of tight corners--pavement is rough and wears out tires rapidly

May 2nd--Business park parking lot and streets--Lacey, WA--About 0.6 mile level course that is fairly level with a couple of tight corners--very large crowds and on local radio along with other events.

May 9th--Valley River Center--Eugene, OR--not positive about this site yet but this was location last year--5 - 180 degree turns on a fairly level course with tire eating pavement again.

May 16th--???--We are hoping to have a new race this year in Bend OR with a couple of new teams that are joining us from there.  More info to come.

May 23rd and 24th--Portland International Raceway--Portland, OR--Long track  1.91 mile Indy style course.  Slight elevation change and wide fast corners compared to our other races.

--Short track--~1.2 mile track using some Indy track, service roads, and parking lots...Tighter corners and more a drivers challenge.

Usually on the 3rd weekend in July there is a two day race at Reeser Stadium in Corvallis Oregon but this is not confirmed yet and I don't know if daVinci Days is going to happen or not.

There is also Two day race the 3rd weekend in August at Valley River Center in Eugene but that is not set for sure yet either.  This is usually tied to the Eugene Celebration but will happen in August even it the celebration is cancelled.

Occasionally there is another race added over the summer as well but I have not heard of any yet but the season has not started yet.  Right now we are all just trying to build our new cars for the upcoming season at this time.  Willamette is building 15 brand new student cars plus our 4 open class cars.
