I was talking to a friend this week that races go carts and he asked why we don't have Electrathon races and the go cart track in McMinnville (I know we used to back when PGE was involved) and the go cart track in Canby. They would require less time to set up and tear down since they are dedicated tracks. I do not know about track usage fee's or if we could allow spectators in for free but most of the tracks are better maintained than the parking lots and streets we use now for the races. What do you racers, teachers and race organizers think?

The last time we checked with McMinville, about 6 years agao, the fee was very high to use it. The wanted to charge each car, each driver, each pit person, each teacher, each spectator. There was also a flat fee just to rent the track for the day. I think we figured the total for just the track to be over $1000.

Pats Acres (In Canby) is also a tad bumpy, but if a go-kart with 1/2" of ride height can do close to 100 there, I see no reason why an electrathon car would have issues there.
Again, the problem you run into is the cost of renting a dedicated track. Perhaps you can rent the track for half a day instead of a full-day?
