We decided to build from steel this time instead of alluminum. We always run into issues at races when we need to make fast repairs.

As you all know all of Willamette's cars are steel framed (except one chrome moly). Building 13 to 17 new cars a year it is a lot cheaper and much easier to fix at races or even in the lab. Also if you use 0.049 tubing and don't use more than needed the frame is nearly the same weight as aluminum since it has a thicker wall.
i will post pictures later in the week.
The old frame should be put up on the memorabelia wall in the Centennial shop.
Just a thought to keep in mind.

What tubing do you guys use to build your chassis? Love the shop set-up you guys have over there!

Aaron
day two
It looks like steel tubing to me. Is that right Aaron?
Zaine
it is one inch steel tubing.
zaine
my hope is to keep the old frame if they let me.
It is a piece of history to the school of Centennial that should not be forgotten.
Everything I have broke on my car we have kept but not scrapped. We plan to have a Wall of Shame memorabilia in my parents garage.

day 3
over a foot shorter than all the other cars.
How many new cars is Centennial making this year?
Zaine
Adding to the fleet? or replacing cars from the fleet?
Zaine
Can't wait to see them in the spring!

still need to do some welding
