To all that raced at LCC; I hope that you all had fun and had a good race.
I also want to say I'm sorry for the drama I created befor the first race by breaking my leg and holding up the races til the ambulance was done with me. Just for info: I have a "tib/fib" break (a clean break of the tibia and fibula) in my lower right leg....I am seeing the Orthopedist on monday morning and if the swelling is down enough I will go in for sugery to "pin" the bones in place... if the swelling has not gone down enough the surgery will be wednesday....
BUT the main reason I am writing this is to help us ALL think about safety....
what happened is that I was taking my car down to tech inspection riding it like a scooter (I had not installed the batteries yet) and sitting on top of the roll bar... this of course made the car have a very high center of gravity & when I turned the corner at the bottom of the hill the car began to roll over I decided to jump out of/off of the car and my foot got caught in the break cable and held between the steering lever (push pull type steering) and the frame of the car so..... with 180lbs of car & 260lbs of driver this was enough leverage to break bones (quite well too.... the x-rays are RELLY impressive)
Now I have "ridden" cars like this many times in the past heading for tech inspection, or after a race when my batteries were dead..... and I have seen several others do so as well..... this was probably just a "freak" accident and may never happen again, but I can say with some certancy that I won't be "riding" a car like this again...
And for the rest of you folks out in Electrathon land..... PLEASE learn from my mistake and do not "ride" your cars as I was riding mine.... at the very least it is costing me some cash (at the ER and Surgery) as well as lost days at work (and the hassle it makes for my co-workers)
PLUS I won't be able to drive at PIR..... the BOSS (my wife) has suggested I might not like the "sanctions" that would be imposed on me if I tried...
So please learn from my stupidity and think about safety at all times, not just while "on the track"..... and have a good fun race at PIR

Ron,
I think you definatly earned last place Saturday. Didn't even make it to the start line and had to be carried away.
I do hope you heal and the pain is not to severe.

Good call Mike! Either push your car or actually hop in and sit in the car if your going to a tech inspection or whatever it may be.

Oh, and congratulations to Adam McCaw for being the Northwest High school Electrathon champ this year! I heard about what happened at Lane. Like I've said on facebook, we all have to be a little crazy to be doing electrathon racing.
Can't wait to see everyone on Saturday!

yes I would have to say I am first in line for last place....
I am doing well though, surgery was on Monday and was a great success so far. Pain is not bad and easily controlled pain meds provided (and ibuprofen)
swelling is dropping rapidly and that is usually a sign that healing is progressing well.... so "all in all" everything is going well.... other than not being able to drive at PIR!!!
If all goes well maybe I can come and watch at least one day of the races.....
hope all goes well for all other teams.... and again... learn from my mistake, don't hurt yourselves from a simple to avoid accident... keep your (and others) safety in mind.
