Hi all,

Wanted to be sure that all of you had the information for this weekends race at Lane Community College, 4000 E 30th Ave. Eugene, OR, 97405.

This is the same race course we have raced at for the last several years for those of you that have been racing for a few seasons.  In the past it has rained, snowed, and had brief bits of sunshine over the day.  Last year it was rainy and the top student traveled 21.5 miles in the hour while the top adult was 22 miles.  Of course if it is sunny the speeds will be greater.

 

This coming Saturday's planned schedule is as follows:

WHS students arrive and help set up track & items--6:30 am

Other teams arrive and inspections for cars start---8:00 am

   --I AM STILL IN NEED OF INSPECTORS IF ANYONE WANTS TO VOLUNTEER

Track opens for practice as cars are inspected

Drivers meeting at --------------------------------10:15 am

First heat of half of the cars starts at ----------11:00 am and goes until noon

Second heat of other half of cars starts at -------12:30 and ends at 1:30 pm

Awards handed out at--------------------------------2:00 pm

Track picked back up and packed away from ----------1:30 to 3:00 pm

 

I am not computer literate enough to put the goggle map with the course outlined on it as Zaine has done the last couple of races but I will give a description.  The track and pits area are at the very back top of the campus.  If you enter on the East driveway off of 30th Ave., you will just keep heading up the hill until you can not go any higher.  There you will see the course to the West.  There is not any power available so you will need to bring your generator or find someone to share with.  The course has two 180 degree left hand turns one of which drops about 8' in elevation.  There are also 2 left/right 'S" turns that both drop about 10' in elevation and are reverse banked which makes them interesting.  Along with those corners there is a left/right 'S" that rises about 10' rapidly and a right into a steep 15' climb then a left to the top parking area.   If you look on a goggle map it is the 2 parking lots the farthest from 30th Ave. in the South West corner of the parking area.

This was one of my favorite track layouts, second only to the Reser Stadium track. A very fun place to race with lots of passing opportunities.

Kyle, you know the course.  Would you be able to draw a map of the course out using google my maps?  I haven't been to Lane Community College before, or anyone can draw it out.

Hey sorry to ask but when we went to barrow a camera from our school the teacher that has them locked up was gone, but does anyone happen to have any pictures of cars 81, 82 and 83? If you do I would appreciate it if i could get a copy of them

Zaine,
Thank you for taking the time to put all of these pictures online. Thank you mom and dad for taking them. They are great. These will be a great learning tool for next year's students. They can see how to build all types of bodies, steering systems, seats, etc.
