$25 entry fee covers two races, one each day. There is a short and a long course race each day. If you want to run both the short and the long course it is $50 per car. This is the lowest price ever for this race!
You can camp at the track for free. There is drag racing on Friday night but not on Saturday night. If you arrive Friday evening you may have to pay to get past the gate. It is not up to me, it is up to the group running the drags if you can get in for free.
Absolutely no fires or fireworks.
All mobility equipment at the track is to be quiet. Meaning no gas powered scooters. I highly encourage you to bring a bicycle to get around. It is a long way across the parking area, you will end up walking a lot if you don't have a bike.
NO ONE is to drive on the track without permission. Automobiles are only allowed to drive across the track at crossing points, not around it. We do not have insurance covering us if cars are on the track. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT ON THE TRACK I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO SEE THAT YOU ARE ARRESTED AND YOUR CAR IS IMPOUNDED! PIR is a city park and Portland police have authority there.
If money is an issue for you, I will reduce your entry fee if you are willing to help at the track. I always need corner marshals and other assistance. Contact me is you have questions.
Yo will need a transponder for lap counting. Most of us already have them. If you need one Mark Watts will have them to rent ($20 per rental for the weekend).
I will post other information as I think of it. Ask questions if you have them.
Aaron, if you don't have a bike but happen to have an electrathon car, bar stool, electric bike (basically something that is quiet) to get around; is that allowed?
Also, I remember you putting up a race sign in sheet on the activeboard last year asking what each person wanted to race in. Is the eighth mile drag race still happening this year too on Saturday evening?
Thought I might ask.

Yes, electric scooter, electric mini-bike, etc are all allowed and encouraged.
We will still have the 1/8th mile drag on Saturday evening. Likely will hold it on the main strip this year since there will be no other cars out there. The primary rule for the drag race is that the car must be an Electrathon entered in the days race (I do not want anyone building a special drag car).
This ocured to me the other day. I think it is a matter of we have done it that way before. When we have a two day race why do we add both days togeather? In reading through the Electrathon handbook I can find no referance that this should be done. Actually, the rules state that Electrathon is about going as far as you can in one hour. So: If we have two days racing, scores added togeather, it seems to be against the concept of Electrathon.
What I am asking is: Should we be running both days, then taking the best score? Or keep doing as we have in the past and add two days togeather and use the cumulative score?
Input from all please. Does anyone know where this came from? Do we change it this year?

I was asked about the strictness of the wording here and what this is about. I am not going to go into specifics, but in the past there was an incident that could have escalated into a very bad situation.
I want everyone to come and have a great time, but please understand there are a few rules I am bound to also. I work very hard to keep the cost very low on this race and need others to participate in seeing that everything goes smoothly.
I think adding the scores of both races makes it much more challenging. If someone does good in the first race, they will be motivated to try harder in the second.
Aaron and all. On scoring for a two day race. I have put some thinking into it and really like the total for the two days and think that this is the most important for this type of race. It shows not only how far the cars went in one day but how consistant that distance is over two consecutive days.
I realize there would be more trophies but in an ideal world it would be good to give trophies for the top 3 for each day. Then give 'larger' tophies for the combined results for both days. That way if a car had one great day and won on Saturday but did not do well on Sunday they still would be rewarded for their one good day but a car that did well on both days may win the overall top car. But who among us wants to give out (buy) 9 trophies for both classes.
This is the official schedule for the weekend. I do not know how to copy and paste it into here. We share the track so we will be doing everything to be on time for ALL of the races. If it rains and we can not run the hope wil be to make it up into the evening. Generally we just go rain or shine (always have in the past).
The two responces I have recieved so far both say to keep it the same, so it will stay. Possibly we can talk about this at the track this weekend and decide how to go for next year.

Is tent camping permitted or just RV camping? Can electric generators be used in RV's?
Can you enter the day of the race or do you need to pay in advance?
You have races both days, (4 races in total) are they all considered different competitions, or do the scores from the races on Saturday continue into the races on Sunday?

Thanks!
You can camp anyhow you want to. There is electricity provided, so no need for generators. No camp fires.
Enter the day of the race at the track. I will be starting check-in at about 8:00. You can practice as soon as you are checked in and inspected.
There is a short and a long race each day. The score from both short will be added togeather and both long added togeather. Separate catagories will be for student and for adult, but they are both on the track at the same time.
Interesting part I just found out: http://www.pirlive.com/
There is live camera on the track. It is actually a security camera that is lift on all the time. You can see part of the race from home if you want to.
Looking forward to the race weekend. I am heading to the track soon so I likely will not see any more posts till after the race. If you have a question it is best to call me directly. 503-761-8276
I want to thank everyone for the great races we had this year. Almost every aspect if the race went well, from weather, participation and cooperation.
Two awards that were not mentioned above:
The fastest racer award to Barclay Henry for the fastest single day score. He pulled off 22 laps in the long track.
Mike Hodgert was awarded a sportsmanship award for his willingness to help everyone at the races throughout the spring season. Mike has the largest team of Electrathons in the world, many of whom are top cars in the Northwest. He is always willing to help other teams in need when something is wrong. Many of the NW teams have the positive attitude of helping others (yes we help our competition get back into the race) when issues arise and Mike has always been a leader in both positive attitude and positive assistance. Thank you Mike!
Mark and Aaron, Thanks for the day by day as well as the combined results. Great race and everything went off as planned. The two of you as well as your students and parents put in so much effort to make it all happen so smoothly. Thanks again for all you two do through out the year with counting laps, taking over as race officials for those races that don't really have one, and promoting this sport and learning activity. Mike
