My first race is tomorrow, I'll try to post some pics of this fun car.
Anyone remember those old Rat Rod stickers and cards from the 70's? My car looks like that, .....it's what inspired me, I'm in this for fun, I want to make people smile for now. After this car has served its purpose I'll reuse the parts for a competitive car.
Monster car looks like fun. That is the reason my car has Wolverine on it. I decided it was more fun to be 'different' than to worry about aerodynamics, etc. My car is a little wider than most as I am fairly wide myself and as I get closer to 60 will probably continue to widen. My car is very heavy (about 140 pounds not counting batteries) so it is very durable. I have the most comfortable car that I have ever sat in as well as my old body does not like pain. Eventually I was able to get the wolverine nose cone, comfort, and fun into a very competitive 'short track' car. Unless something breaks I almost always in the top 3 at a race and often the winner. I only get beat a few times a year by students.
Thanks Guys! It was a blast, certainly got everyone's attention.
I didn't do so well in the race, had a dead cell in the first race and a bearing go out in the second race, dead last in the competition, but next time I'll do better.
Actually squealled the tires at the start of the race, way to much torque, I can smoke em' in my shop, didn't want to kill the charge that fast at the track, had I known what was going to happen I might've shown-off with a little smoke, just to make the kids smile.
Hi Gary, Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you at the race, but I was preoccupied with tire and gear changes between the races. Anyway, your car looks cool, reminds me of a late '60s Corvette. It's good to have another Open Class car on the track and I look forward to seeing what your car will do at USF on Feb. 18. Also, congratulations to your son on his win. Although we race in different classes, I have encountered him on the track many times. He always races clean and we all appreciate that.
