This is a 0.5 mile track with the same course as the last several years with the W track layout.Eugene Water & Electric Board is again sponsoring this event and donating $2000 for insurance, t-shirts for drivers, trophies for top 4 in each class and lap money of ~$600 (we hope). On Sat. 8/24 inspections start about 1:30 with practice times to follow and the race from 5 to 6:00 that evening. On Sun. 8/25 inspections start at 8:30 with practice to follow and the race from 11:00 to noon. The race is clockwise on Saturday and counter clockwise on Sunday. In the past the winners have only traveled about 25 miles each day due to the 5 fairly tight 180 degree corners.
Other info.... -Willamette's cars are in the parade Saturday morning so we can not make it to start set up until about 11:30 which is why the Saturday race is so late. -This is part of the Eugene Celebration but we do not have wrist bands like daVinci Days but there is lots going on downtown all day on Saturday and Sunday in case you want to check it out but you will need to buy your own wrist bands. -As in the past if you and your team want to spend the night at my house you are very welcome. We have limited beds (Centennial gets 1st pick on two of them since they count laps) but we have lots of floor space and a large deck and small grassy area that you can call home for the night. I have 5+ outlets on different circuits on the outside my house so you can plug in batteries as needed. The school's lab will also be available as soon as I get there after the race for a while to make repairs if needed. -I think I will be OK for set up on Saturday but if any of you are available to help with inspections, etc. that would be great. We will have Centennial at this race so we will have the electronic lap counting again and not tally marks. I have a number caller and a person to write down the sequential numbers of cars as they pass but more help is always appreciated as it makes it go easier and faster for all of us. -As above, if EWEB come up with the full $2000, we will have t-shirts for each car's driver, trophies for the top 4 in each class, and about $600 in lap money to distribute. -Hopefully we will see many of you, it was not much of a student race at daVinci days with Adam McCaw from Hood River Valley and our 7 cars. We are really hoping to have more student cars at this event.
If you could let me know if you are coming and about how many cars you are planning to bring ASAP that would be great so I can start to plan accordingly.
