My name is Ed Richter and I am the advisor for the Los Altos Academy of Engineering. For the last two years, we have attended the Emerald Coast Electrathon in Pensacola, Florida.
We are in the planning process of trying to get a race going in Southern California. There are a lot of details that need to be worked out, including securing the race track.
With that being said, is there anyone out there interested in being in a race in So Cal this spring?
Ed,
If you are from CA how come you don't come to any of the many Oregon/Washington races? We have 7 one day races, a 4 races in two days at Portland International, and at least one (usually 2) 2 day race over the summer?
With my budget of $3500 for the program and making 17+ cars a year I can not really afford to come to a race in Southern CA unless we do a lot of fundraising and the kids pay for their own transportation. We work working on trying to get to the Florida race last year when it was going to be at Disney World. WE would have to work out a lot of details to make it work but if the race was at a special place or ??? we might be able to make it. We have a large truck and trailer that an haul a total of 19 cars if others from the NW want to join us and help pay the gas to get all of the cars, batteries, tools there for several teams.
I will keep you posted on how this shapes up. With that being said, I'll be in touch on the Oregon races. I would be very interested in getting some information on those.
We have a two day race in Eugene the 23 and 24. The spring NW race season starts in March, usually the first weekend in Gresham just outside of Portland. We then usually have 6 ore one day races and end with a 4 race (2 long-2 short track) 2 day race at Portland International Raceway. Over the summer we usually have a race in July in Corvallis and anther 2 day race in Eugene in August. All of these will be posted on the calendar on this web site once they are sanctioned. Would love to you guys and any other teams join us for a fun set of races.
