I was looking around ElectrathonOfTampabay.org and I found some older links, some from the electrathon championship from at Disney. The race happened before I started racing but I was wondering if there will be any other natinal chapionships like the one at Disney.
The one at Disney never happened. There was some issues with the group doing a major promotion that was going to include student project and feature Electrathon Cars. The cost of us being included in this kept going up and at the time it was dropped was way above what EA could afford. So it fell through.
There have been several 'so called' national championships but they just bill their race as that and hope more cars show up. Sometimes because it is a National Championship the entrance cost is over $200 per car.
EA has worked several times at having a rotating national championship. The first was to be at Disney in Florida and then either the mid-west or NW followed by the NE and then either NW or Mid-west and then back to Florida. But since Disney fell apart and cost EA some $$ the idea sort of died. maybe some day but the cost of shipping cars and transporting students is a lot to fit into a school's budget.
