Is it allowed to have the seat belts wrapped around the bar instead of welding a bolt to the bar? The rule book only says that it must be strong enough to pick up the whole car. I think that it would be just as strong as welding a bolt to the tube. I would like to know if this would pass inspection.
On my car, the middle seat belt strap that goes between your legs is wrapped around the frame of the car. It has enough strap coming out of the buckle part so it won't budge when I'm strapped in. So yes, as long as it stays put when tension is put on it.
Zaine is correct. It can be attached in any manor, as long as it is secure. The crotch strap must go between your legs, not forward (such as attached to the steering column).
