Sorry for the late notice about this race. I sent out some reminders around the time of the daVinci Days races (see below) and for some reason never got around to sending out a large all of NW reminder again.....David O'Neel let me know this morning that he did not know about the race until he heard it mentioned in our local paper---so sorry about that to all.
The race is this coming weekend. On Saturday 8/27 we will start registrations/inspections by 2:00 and the race is from 5:00 to 6:00. On Sunday we will start registrations/inspections by 9:00 and the race is from 11:00 to noon. We expect less than 35 cars so there will only be one heat each day. Schools in Oregon are not in session yet so many of the teams I have contacted have said they will NOT be here. The only firm commitments I have for the high school class is Willamette, Centennial, and Thurston HS. So far I only know of 5 open class cars that are coming so the field is wide open.
As always this race is sponsored by the Eugene Water and Electric Board and is known as the EWEB Kilowatt Klassic. EWEB gives us $2000 to put on the race and after insurance ($560) t-shirts for drivers and helpers ($524) trophies ($150) and any other costs there will be about $800 left that will be divided up as lap money between all racers.
If you care to help out at the race with inspections, lap counting, flagging, etc. please let me know as several of my kid's parents that earlier told me they would be available are now planning on being out of town and my helper list has shrunk.
Hope to see many of you at the last NW race of the 2011 season.... and sorry again about not sending out an earlier reminder.
