Hi gang, Wanted to let you all know that we will be having the "Eugene Celebration" race at Valley River Center like always even though, like daVinci Days, the Celebration itself is cancelled. This is the same exact track layout that we race on for the Springfield race on May 10th. It is usually won at around 23 to 25 mph average with the 5 - 180 turns it is a real test for cars, drivers and tires! We will have trophies for the top 4 in both classes as well as t-shirts for all drivers and (hopefully enough) for those that help out in set-up, take down, and running the races and registration.
ON SATURDAY AUGUST 23RD we will start the race at 5:00 pm, Registration about 1:00, we will go in a clockwise direction. This is so late because we are in the parade that is still happening.
SATURDAY NIGHT Who ever wants to is welcome to stay at my house for the night. I don't have enough beds but I have couches, floor space and lots of deck area.
SUNDAY AUGUST 24TH the race will start at 11:00, Registration about 8:00, we will go in a counter clockwise direction.
Please let me know if you are planning on coming to the races so I can plan t-shirts etc.also let me know if you have questions.
Definitely will be there Mike, I already got the time off from work (cleared it over a month ago) let me know if any setup/parade/equipment/etc. help needed.
If ANYTHING is needed just let me know (you should have my number & e-mail) also while I don't have any "rooms" @ my house I do have water & power for maybe 3 or 4 campers/trailers at my place if needed....
I just found out that our Eugene Celebration Parade on Saturday is an hour later this year than in the past---From 10:00 start to 11:00 start so we won't get to the race site until 12:30 to start to set up the track etc.. So I am going to move the registration on Saturday back to 2:00 and practice will start by 2:30 at the latest. That still leaves 3 hours after registration/inspection and 2 hours for practice until time to change batteries for the race.
I think that the finish order for the Open Class is incorrect.
Shannon was definitely Third, not First. I can't be sure if Gary or Zaine won.
The transponder times for Saturday for the 3 of them are all more than 3 minutes past the hour. This is clearly not representing the final lap.
It appears that the transponders were still recording when the vehicles were rolled back across the line after the finish. So there is no actual record of the finish times to be able to know the time differential between Gary & Zaine.
I do know that Shannon's last lap was completed AFTER Zaine and Gary completed their last laps on Saturday. Zaine did finish ahead of Gary Day 1 and Gary finished ahead of Zaine Day 2 (by 29.154 seconds). If Zaine's lead on Saturday was less than 29 seconds, then Gary should be the overall winner. This is how I think it happened, but there is no way to tell from the transponder times.
Both Gary & Zaine finished their last laps ahead of Shannon on Day 2 so Shannon has to be Third overall.
Dave, I think you are right. Aaron was going to try to make sense of it all and post it here when he found time and energy after the long weekend.
I think that the MyLaps transponder system should have the data from the first day and they can look at it to figure out the last time stamp that was before the 1 minutes past the hour that the race took that day (all cars were done well before the 2 minutes time limit.) Then they can figure out the places for Gary and Zane from that. I'm almost sure that Saturday Gary was on the bottom big sweep when Zane crossed the finish line so the difference on Saturday should be just a few seconds but I might be wrong.
