Hi gang, wanted to let everyone know that this race is coming up. Nest weekend on March 14th we will be bouncing around the 0.8 mile long track at Mt. Hood CC. I think everyone in the NW received their flyer from Mark Watts about the race but if not here are some details.
Registration, inspection starts around 8:00 with practice time to follow. The race is one heat from 11:00 to noon. Afterwards we go up to the auto lab and eat free hotdogs, chips, and drink pops. They talk about their programs and give out awards. Then it is time to clean up and head home. This is a great race and very fun. The long course allows a number of cars on the track at a time so no matter if all 70 of the NW cars show up we all can be on the track at the same time. The course has some long straights, hills, tight corners, and as such gives us a great challenge. The surface itself has some nice smooth patches as well as some of the roughest areas we race on with pot holes and patches but that is part of the fun for this race. It is usually won at around 23 miles an hour. This is a real shakedown race where you can see if your welds are good or if they will break under stress. There are almost always a number of cars around the track that are broken and were not up to the challenge. Come and join in the fun.
