I would like to start a conversation about updating the ground clearance rule in the rules. But, first, allow me to share my experience to illustrate the contradiction in the rule book. Back in November of 2020 on a parking lot at Plant City High School, a parking lot used almost exclusively for busses...

How is a Lithium Battery Weighted?? Is the box that is contained in or just the battery pack itself if it is removal??

Instead of everyone wandering around before and after a race trying to figure out and keep track of who their competition is, what if class signage was required on the cars near their numbers? It would make it a lot easier to know if you can ignore that car that just lapped you or if you need to make an adjus...

I know that in the rule book it specifically states that cameras can't be used as substitutes, but why is this? Was that rule made back when cameras were really expensive and thus gave an unfair advantage? Do they get covered easily by debris? How come Kirk Swaney's vehicle, which has the record on the b...

Rule 9.2 states that "Brakes must be fitted to two wheels of the same axle. Either both front wheels or both rear wheels depending on vehicle construction." if the car had a front wheel collapse/ fall off (on a cycle car) or a back wheel collapse/fall off (in a tricycle) that could cause the...

Are there any contacts for clarification of restrictions/regulations? I have some ideas on alternatives for controllers that I would like to be able to ask to 'non-partisian' officials without spilling the beans to possible competitors.

It seems that this rule has been removed from the rulebook. Not sure when this happened. Lap counting: In the NW we run a lot of races each spring. We have a lot of cars show up (40+ not unusual). Historically we often had a lot of mistakes in the counting process, I can tell so horror stories about thi...

The offcial Electrathon rule says that it must be a full faced, DOL approved helmet. I was wondering if there are exceptions to this if it is a closed canopy? I have seen it pass through inspection before. I was just curious if there is any rule or if it is just luck of who is inspecting the vehicle and drive...

It has been a long time since I was as angry as I was today at an individual (participant) at a race. I have over the years watched many instances of poor sportsmanship from aggressive driving, intentional ballast weight cheating, and total neglect for following race rules, etc. What I watched tod...

Mike brought this one up in the disqualification posting. Comunication equipment is allowed (see rule #25.2) What comunication is allowed and not allowed durring a race: Radio? Cell phone? What about blue tooth? Texting? Possibly others?

How are you guys in other areas handling driver weigh in? Before the race, after the race, both? If someone is underweight after the race, how picky are you about the driver being light? What if you are pretty sure the driver was good at the start but now an hour later they are a pound light, do you DQ them...

So are the other races after the MHCC race going to be a first come first serve for the starting line up? Or is there going to be a bracket type deal for how you finished the last race, that is where you'll start for the next one? Or pick pole positions out of a hat or something?

This is part of an email sent out today my Mike Hodgert. It was directed at the NW but may have relevance in other areas too. If you are from the NW, please note the part that we require the teachers to fully participate in the verification of parental release requirements. The hammer that will come do...

If a driver/car is disqualified durring a race for an infraction, does he get to keep his laps or does the lap tally sheet get adjusted to show zero laps? Aaron W -- Edited by electrathon on Saturday 23rd of January 2010 05:20:10 PM

Has anyone evey seen a valid reason to use a passing flag? I realize that on a velodome that there may have been some call for it, but Electrathons are no longer held on the mini-tracks. When I do a pre-race talk, I never talk about the flag anymore and personally feel it just adds to the confusion (I ca...
